The 2026 Spirit of Calabasas Award 

Each year, the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce bestows the Bill Van Gieson Spirit of Calabasas Award upon a Chamber member to reflect their pioneering spirit, initiative, and outstanding contributions to the community in memory of Van Gieson, who is remembered for his creative leadership in developing Chamber activities. This year’s recipient is Mark L. Levinson, and he will be honored at the Calabasas Chamber’s upcoming Installation Gala & Casino night on January 31st at the Calabasas Country Club.

Calabasas, CA — The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce proudly announces the Spirit of Calabasas Award recipient for 2026 is Mark L. Levinson of Mark L. Levinson’s Family Law.  

Each year, the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce bestows the Bill Van Gieson Spirit of Calabasas Award upon a Chamber member to reflect their pioneering spirit, initiative, and outstanding contributions to the community in memory of Van Gieson, who is remembered for his creative leadership in developing Chamber activities.  

As Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce, Mark L. Levinson leads the organization with years of expertise and dedication to the community.   

In addition to this important role, he serves as Chairman of the Chamber’s Government & Community Affairs Committee, Chairman of the Attorney’s Forum, and as an Ambassador. Having twice received the Chairman’s Award, Levinson’s service to the Chamber is exceptional.   

Known primarily as a family law attorney, Levinson graduated with honors in political science from San Fernando Valley State College - now California State University at Northridge (CSUN). He graduated from the University of Southern California School of Law, receiving the American Jurisprudence Award for highest grade in preventative law. He then passed the bar on the first attempt. Levinson has always been rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell for professional work and integrity, the highest peer-reviewed recognition for a lawyer.   

Levinson has practiced in numerous fields: personal injury, business legislation, mass tort litigation-asbestos, education litigation, and family law-divorces for the last 30 years. He has tried jury trials in municipal court, superior court, and federal court and argued cases before the California Court of Appeals. In the last five years, Levinson’s primary practice has been helping low-income people in divorce matters - his way of giving back.   

Personally, Levinson has a long history of service to a variety of causes and organizations. For over 20 years, he has dedicated much time to a number of chambers of commerce including the United Chambers of Commerce. His service has extended to multiple roles on numerous committees and Boards of Directors, including at the Valley Family Center, Mid-Valley YMCA, Momentum (formerly Valley Village) and Child Development Institute. 

Additionally, Levinson serves on the alumni board of directors at CSUN and for the Fernando Award Foundation, in which he received the prestigious Fernando Award recognizing his lifetime of volunteerism.   

Across every part of his work and life, Mark L. Levinson has built a long record of service, leadership, and care for the people and communities around him. 

Please join the Calabasas Chamber in celebrating Mr. Levinson at the Annual Installation Gala & Casino Night on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Calabasas Country Club. This festive evening will honor the incoming leadership and feature live music, casino games, and networking opportunities.
